Stuart McMillan MSP (SNP) has welcomed the news from the Scottish Government that Scotland’s 32 local authorities will split £6.5 million from the Scottish Government to take forward a variety of programmes that will support young people towards a job.
The funding has been put in place to support the implementation of the recommendations from the Commission for Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce which outlined a new blueprint for work-based training last year.
Inverclyde will receive £86,878 of the funding.
Mr. McMillan said:
“I am delighted to learn that Inverclyde will receive a share of the funding from the Scottish Government to support young people towards finding employment.
“This Scottish Government has placed an important focus on our young people and in ensuring they are supported with their future.
“Therefore, this funding will give local authorities additional resources to tailor activity to their local needs and give our young people the best possible chance of success.”
