Stuart McMillan MSP (SNP) has welcomed the announcement from Inverclyde Council that repair works to Greenock Cemetery are to take place this summer.
Mr McMillan wrote to both Historic Scotland and Inverclyde Council after receiving correspondence from constituent’s who highlighted how the railings and wall at Greenock Cemetery were in a state of disrepair. Inverclyde Council responded to indicating, “the railings and wall should be painted sometime this summer.”
Speaking after learning of the news
Mr McMillan said;
“I was contacted by constituents who raised their concerns that the railings and wall at Greenock Cemetery had fallen into a state of disrepair.
“Greenock Cemetery is a listed building and its important it should remain in proper condition.
“Therefore, I raised the matter with both Historic Scotland and Inverclyde Council to ensure action was taken to rectify the situation and I am pleased to learn that repair works will take place this summer.”
