SNP MSP Stuart McMillan has today congratulated Greenock Morton Community Trust on their successful funding award of £25,000 from the Legacy 2014 Sustainable Sport for Communities Fund.
The award is part of the £1 million fund which is a partnership between the Scottish Government and the Robertson Trust.
Morton fan and Greenock based MSP Stuart McMillan said:
“Greenock Morton Community Trust and each of the other 12 Scottish organisations receiving funding today have the potential to promote social inclusion and cohesion in their communities and across Scotland through sport”.
“The Trust had to present a compelling business case for how their plans can help them become financially sustainable, ensuring this fund can leave a legacy of community benefit for years to come.”
“I have in the past worked with the Trust to help them promote their work which included a member’s debate in the Scottish Parliament, which Cappie the Cat attended, last month. I will continue to do all that I can to help them with their work.
“The work the Trust do for the local area is outstanding, and I want to congratulate them on receiving this award.”
