SNP MSP Stuart McMillan has welcomed figures published today showing a reduction in the number of Inverclyde patients delayed in hospital, waiting to be discharged.
The figures published by ISD Scotland show that 177 bed days were lost to delayed discharge patients in April 2015 – a reduction of over 60% since April 2014 when the figure was at 450.
The Greenock based MSP praised staff working in the NHS for their efforts.
Speaking Mr McMillan said:
“It is welcome news that these figures published today show less people in Inverclyde are waiting over three days to be discharged.
“To reduce the number by over 60% is great and is down to the hard work of all the NHS staff in the area.
“However, while the progress that has been made over the last year is fantastic, there are still too many people delayed in hospital and I therefore welcome the Scottish Government’s nationwide commitment to £100 million over three years to support local efforts.”
