The biggest changes to voter registration in a generation have been ongoing for months – and Stuart McMillan MSP has urged people to check they are registered vote.
The new changes gets rid of the ‘head of household’ registration system and places electoral registration in the hands of individuals. Yet concerns have been raised that this has seen millions drop off the Electoral Register across the UK.
Commenting on these changes, Stuart McMIllan MSP said:
“We should continue to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to have their say on how Scotland is run and making our electoral system as accessible as possible is an important part of increasing democratic engagement.
“2016 will be another important year for the country and I hope that as many people as possible have their voice heard on election day.”
