McMillan Meets new Chief Executive of Beacon Arts Centre

Stuart McMillan MSP today visited the Beacon Arts Centre and met with the new Chief Executive, Jackie Shearer, to discuss the theatre and learn about its progress.

Speaking after the meeting, Mr. McMillan said:

“I was delighted to meet Jackie Shearer today and was impressed by her enthusiasm to progress the Beacon Arts Centre.

“Ms. Shearer clearly has ambitions to ensure the Beacon becomes a thriving hub of creative activity in Inverclyde and I am sure the plans will deliver that.

“The Beacon already offers a wide range of community engagement events involving all age groups. I was pleased to learn that the demand for theatre groups for younger people is so high that extra classes were introduced.

“The Beacon has experienced some problems in the past but from what I have heard and seen today, there is already significant improvements in many areas. I wish the venue every success in their future endeavours.”

Jackie Shearer, Chief Executive Officer stated:

“It was a real pleasure to meet Stuart McMillan MSP today and share stories of our current work and our plans for the future. Like us he is passionate about providing the best experience for the people of Inverclyde and we are grateful to have him as one of our supporters.”
