Stuart McMillan, the SNP candidate for Greenock & Inverclyde, has welcomed a new affordable housing development in Port Glasgow. This will result in 13 houses and 28 flats at the Bay Street area, with construction works expected to start in April 2016 with a view to the new homes being completed late summer 2017.
This housing development is a joint initiative between housing developer Cullross and River Clyde Homes, alongside funding from the Scottish Government’s Affordable Housing Programme. The new homes will be extremely energy efficient and will meet the Scottish Government’s Greener Standard.
Stuart McMillan said:
“This project is an example of excellent partnership working to transform a derelict and unused site and to deliver much needed new homes.
“It is great to see new affordable housing coming to Port Glasgow which will also be built to the silver level of building regulations in respect of both carbon dioxide emissions and energy for space heating.
“Between 2007-2014 the SNP Scottish Government has invested nearly £120m on affordable housing in Inverclyde, and this latest investment highlights the SNP’s commitment to supporting affordable housing.”
